Thank you Rhonda, So you add your batting before you place the zipper???? It will show seams inside correct. For some reason I was thinking I had to figure out how to have no seams showing.

With the coin purse I make the purse halves first with batting. Then add the zipper
With the side pocket I add the zipper to the pocket before I do the batting and finish the purse. The raw edges won't have the zipper in them so you can sew the purse the same way as if the zipper wasn't on there because it is back out of the way.
As for seams I just top stitch the coin purse together and on the inset zipper I used a blind stitch or better known as a slip stitch to hand sew the patchwork purse sections together but you can sew them together on the machine so the seams end up inside the purse. I just liked the look of the butted up sections rather than turned under with a seam
