I lived in Central FL for over 50 years before moving to NC. There are several really nice areas near Orlando (Orange City, Sanford, Mt Dora) Stay out of Orlando proper. It's too expensive but you can find anything you need there. It's hot in the summer but all the other seasons are nice and we only had about 2 days of winter. If you can afford it, I would summer in the mountains and spend the rest of the year in FL. Good luck.
