Meadow is part of your family and especially now is not the time to leave him behind. Stand your ground and if his family can't deal with it don't go. I don't always go to my dh's family gatherings because they are always loud and festive and wears me out within minutes. Meadow is part of you now and if he isn't welcome then they are basically saying you are not welcome. I am sorry I hope this all works out for the best.
