My grandmother taught me to knit when I was small. We knitted as teenagers, then when married crocheted a blanket. To celebrate my 70th birthday I knit 22 pair....that is 44 socks for our deployed soldiers. I started quilting and continued some knitting. Recently I began a pair of socks, finished the first sock after some time lapsed.....then I forgot how to cast on for the second sock! well no way could I do it on my own, I looked for my papers on the German twisted cast on and could not locate it. Then went to the internet and found How to Cast on and watched the video several times before I got it right. I am knitting that sock right now....and I started the first sock of another pair to try to keep the method in my brain! So somethings you can learn again at an older age, in Italy I had no luck with Italian immersion classes as they just went too fast and no English was spoken. I watch Italian mysteries that have subtitles and am picking up a few words from that! It just take an immense amount of determination but you can do it!
