How about double embroidery thread (12 threads) or black yarn,
and make a good size "X" over the points that don't match. That
should make a design statement (!) and nobody will know that it wasn't
in the original plan. I think you are wonderful for making this quilt.
My friends and I made a quilt for a raffle that was so bad and so wonky
that I had to hand sew seam binding over every seam. It took over 8
hours, and was the most frustrating thing I've ever done.
