I've been making these for a few weeks for Christmas presents. Mine does not use D rings but a fabric loop which I think I like better. I have a pdf file on the instructions but I dont know if I can attach a pdf file to a message on this forum or not. My pattern calls for 26" square. That is ample for a full sized pie dish and a 3 qt. casserole. A smaller version can be found here:

The difference in instructions for the larger one is 7/8 yrd of each fabric cut into 26" square. The small loops are made from a 6 x 7" piece of fabric and the larger handle from an 8 x 20". But all the other instructions are the same.
