AHHH!!!! That is incredible! My kind of quilt! I love to use patterns for things they are not intended for. In this case you will need to reverse the pattern. It is so sensitive that I would attach the pieces at the same time (Front and back) Are you planning to use sticky bias for the black? You will also have some wonderful Y seams to deal with.
