When you are through quilting you trim the batting. Then I use my ruler and rotary cutter to trim the back 1" from the top. Fold that raw edge down to touch the top, then fold again. This gives you about 1/2" binding. Pin it down - mitering the corners. I like to use a blanket stitch, zigzag, or scallop stitch to sew it down. Search for self binding or fold over binding to get more information. My friend and I call this The Dark Side. She usually does her bindings the usual way but sometimes comes over to The Dark Side when in a rush.
