It is a great tool for some things. I have one and plenty of dies, have had it for a few years now. It really depends on your quilting how useful of a tool it will be. Do you do a lot of strip quilts, definitely get one. Is it hard for you to cut with cutter or scissors--get one. Basically if cutting is some how difficult, painful, inaccurate, or just plain a pain if you can afford one get one. They can be a great addition to your quilting. I only get mine out about once or twice a month now but I do I make it earn its space in the room :-) 150 charm squares in just under an hour always makes me happy. Also, if you have embroidery machine there is software can be purchased from Accuquilt to go with applique dies. I will be using mine to cut Sun Bonnet Sue/Sam's out of my kids baby clothes and appliquing them on squares with embroidery machine and none of that could be done by me without the Accuquilt.
