I too have the Pfaff 4.0 and it was the model that had all the problems but with patience and dealer it is all straightened out and works fine. You do not need a walking foot. It's my 2nd Pfaff and I wouldn't trade it for any other machine. The 4.0 has a lot of features and you might not need all of them. Go visit the dealer and find out for yourself.
