Could also be dried up grease around the handwheel / motor gears. That stuff gets pretty granular and crunchy sounding. Could be that the top motor bearing could use a drop of TF too.
yup - what I was thinkin' - that dog wants to growl and if you oil it clean it off good - if it gets oil in the area around that hand wheel it can make all kinds of noise. You'll have to name it after one bad sounding singer... I like bicycle chain lube for those bearings. I had to do one in a pinch one time at a friend's house - hand sanitizer got the gunk off licketysplit LOL
