I actually 'love' my flower head pins, so I found that you can sharpen them by sticking them into a fingernail buffer. Sally's sells the buffer. If you think about it, the original tomato with strawberry pin cushions were filled with silicon (sand or emery) and when you stuck the pin into the cushion it was sharpened. Here's a
