Are you setting the thread length indicator to the nutral line? These are all things I would play with.
Thanks for replying, Redsquirrel. I'm using metal bobbins. For needles, I've tried many including topstitch and quilting needles, also denim needles. Yes, I'm setting the thread length to the neutral line. My 201 machine doesn't seem to like the way the bobbin thread is pulled up when fmq, but there is nothing wrong with it for regular sewing. Any other ideas? Thanks!
