Many manufacturers made sewing machines for other companies. Those were labeled or badged for the retail outlet or company that distributed them. For instance the 158 series of Kenmore machines was made by Maruzen / Jaguar and badged as Kenmores. My mom's old HOTHER 15 clone ( see my avatar pic ) was made by JUKI.
Lots and lots of that went on after WW II.
