I make anywhere between 10 and 20 lap quilts for the VA nursing home in my area each year. My sister makes draperies for an interior designer and she gives me left over fabric the customer does not want. I cut the smaller pieces into 8 inch squares and cut up old jeans into 8 inch squares for the patchwork. I use the larger pieces of fabric for backing. These are fairly heavy so I do not use batting. I do birth these then stitch in the ditch to hold together and stitch around the edges..
