Same here. Made the mistake of cutting some strips from yardage then changed my mind about the pattern..

I would never cut yardage into smaller sizes until I need them. I like to put borders on my quilts and it's best if the border is one piece on each side. I don't like to piece the border if I don't have to. For a 74" x 84" quilt I need more than 2 yds per side. Sure I have long strips but I can usually find other uses for the fabric.....
For my CW quilt, I cut 3-5 yd lengths to wash the fabric and then cut the 9" squares. That quilt used about 40 yards but I couldn't wash that much at one time.
