Not sure I can help but I have seen all info that maker wanted embroidered on the binding. They used an embroidery machine but it could be done by hand. I was done very nicely and did not detract from the look at all. This I would think would work great for reversible quilts. I have not used it but it is always in the back of my mind to try.
