I love mine. I use it primarily for FMQ, but have used the walking foot occasionally. The downside is the walking foot does not have a guide, so I tend not to use it for quilting as I don't like marking the quilts -- much easier to use a guide. Since I tend to piece when watching videos, I use a small machine for that. But I did get a set of piecing feet with guides off E-Bay in 1/8", 1/4", and 3/8" widths. Just be sure any feet you buy specifically state they are for the Brother 1500s due to the pin feed.

I use all kinds of thread, and the only time I've had problems is when I used a Walmart branded thread that was at least 20 years old. Most of the time I use Maxilock cone thread and never have had a problem.

I was told to oil the machine every 4th bobbin change, and that is what I've done. It does drink oil and need regular oiling. If it sits for a month without being use, I make sure and oil it and clean out around the bobbin area before using it.

I can't say enough good things about this particular model.
