No great mysteries here. The additional colour is a simple dry sprinkling of RIT. After it was lightly squirted with water I rinsed it off and heat set it with the iron.
The trees are upholstery trim, unravelled and stitched down.

thanks for sharing your techniques! I've never tried using dry RIT... I will have to add it to my arsenal. One final question...how did you do the shadows in the snow?
