Mark my piece carefully on the right side, then I cut out my shape with a generous seam allowance... Once the applique is placed, then I cut a closer seam allowance, just enough for me to turn and stitch, using tiny stitches like others have said. By trimming just before turning and stitching nothing frays... Once Ive stitched that small amount, I cut more. I also try to keep those curves on the bias. It takes a little practice, but it is so much fun!!
