The machine itself isn't working. I purchased it from a coworker and should have tried it out before I bought it. When I first got it home it would sew for a a few feet and then break the thread. I adjusted everything I knew of, changed the needle and now it's worse. Have birds nest thread everywhere. I called a repair man (which really erked me, since I repair vintage machines all the time) and he wanted $120 to show up. I just got frustrated with it and it is now a garage obstacle.
It does all of that on and off the frame? (I think it's a stretched Singer or something isn't it?)
Machines do behave strangely when they're put on a frame because of the extra factors we introduce. Did you ever start a thread about it? If you do, I promise to try to help.
