I am sure the 6500 is a good machine.
However, when I bought my 6600, it was superior to the 6500 and there was no way I would consider the 6500 when I compared the two.
Since then the 8200 which has improved considerably on the 6600.
So IMHO ... I would skip the 6500 and go to at least the 6600. Price wise, you should be able to get the 6600 at a very reasonable price because many are now upgrading to the 8200 or go directly to it. While finances may be a concern, if you can swing the 8200, go for it! I've heard some getting incredible deals on it, despite its newness!
