Used to cut out fabric pieces used in applique. Trace the piece onto the Steam A Seam and then cut the pieces apart and when the paper from one side is removed the piece can be placed on the fabric and the stickiness holds it in place so you can do a finer cut around the fabric--remove the paper from the other side and the fabric piece adheres to the larger piece of fabric to create the applique to stitch around. Hope this makes sense.
