I'd recommend the Art of Machine Piecing, by Sally Collins. She teaches how to piece precisely. I've only adopted a couple of her techniques, and my piecing life runs so much smoother! Pieces fit together easily, with less ripping and re-doing. I recommend this book and buy it for friends all the time. I took an all day workshop with her, on precision piecing, and it is hands-down the best class I ever took.
