I made a star quilt using blue scraps . I used a 8-1/2" fabric base, starting in the diagonal (center). 4 blocks for the center of the star, then I used 4=== 8-1/2" square of white and 4 ==squares of the scrappy blue, right sides together and mark a center line on the diagonal, sew 1/4" on each side of the line,this is also the cutting line which makes the star points. You do have to trim the center blocks the same size of the points. Cut 4 white blocks the size of the rest. For the border you can make 4 more scrappy blocks. Cut the white the same size of the finished blocks.
