I have an Aria i just got and have a ton of thread from connecting threads. However when I tried using it, blue on bottom and cream on top, the tension was all wrong. Couldn't find a good setting. I haven't had any tension problems with connecting threads thread. I don't adjust the tension at all. Perhaps you need to change the needle? I usually use a size 12 for piecing and a 14 for quilting. Wish I could help more.
