I think it also has to do with the degree/amount of quilting....I would think that heavily quilted items would not have the same warmth factor....as the insulation factor comes from the amount of trapped "air" as well as the batting.
Don't know if i'm saying what i mean clearly...but think of the warmth of a down comforter....just feathers and air with minimal stitching.
