I started with a foundation larger than the measurements of my Bible (I traced my Bible, but had to square it up a bit).
Then the fabric was stitched on. And the embroidery was done that it stayed inside the measurements for the Bible. (I didn't want to sew through stitching)
I did fully line it. Stitch piece face-up, pockets for cover face-down, lining face-down. Being careful to line everything up. Then stitch, leaving a hole at the bottom of the spine to turn. It was a snug fit, but not so tight that the Bible didn't shut.

I'm planning on doing this again for my younger daughter.

I enjoyed using an orphan block (the little fabric texture bit) and adding some appliqué. I enjoy projects like this because it's small and can be personalized.
