Applied stain. Now it's drying. I have fluorescent lighting in the garage and rows and rows of it. Fluorescent light tends to make everything a bit sallow looking. I brought a drawer inside the house to check out the color and it's perfect. It's darker and more red than it appears here. It's going to be beautiful.

The trim in the middle is going to be very dark, almost black. It'll likely look black most of the time. But I need to wait for this stain to dry so I can mask off the trim pieces. At the same time, the wood in the cabinet is refusing to soak up much stain. I'll see how it goes but I may be applying more stain tomorrow meaning I have to wait another day before I can do the trim.

At the same time, I'm trying to beat a cold front that's going to come through this week. It needs to be above 50 for at least 8 hours after I apply the finish. If I can't get it done, I'll have to wait until the weekend.
I'm doing this in the garage with the door open. If I did this in my house, the fumes will trigger a migraine. I'd rather wait a week than have to deal with a migraine.

Edit: Also, I found an ink well for this desk on ebay. Twenty bucks. I snatched it up despite the cost. It seems they rarely get listed away from the desk. It'll be nice to have a complete desk. I'm a writer by trade so it's fitting. I do have a fountain pen and ink and I doubt I'll use the ink well. But I never know what I'll be up to.

If I can find a manual from 1941, this machine and cabinet will be as complete as it was when waiting for its first owner to purchase the combo.
