I use my brush, and the skinny pipe cleaner shaped brush first, but you can't always get it lifted out, so then I use the mini vac brush, to get the loose pieces. I will try the pipe cleaners too, and most certainly advise getting a pro clean and service once a year. But I run a lot of thread and flannel through my precious Janome, so clean often at home.
