I worked with a high end fashion designer out in the Hamptons on Long Island. At the end of the day, I was permitted to take home all the scraps of the most gorgeous fabrics, silks included. I use them still to make crazy quilts into throws, jackets, make-up bags, anything that comes to mind. My scrap stash of these is still quite extensive! Be sure to use the right needle and iron on fusible so your fabric doesn't stretch in every direction and pucker.
