Depends on which machine I am using, so sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. It is fine both ways.
I use the walking foot on my Janomi but have never needed it on my little Brother and don't have one on the Red Eye Singer. Just have to adjust the tension. For some reason the Janomi doesn't like that many layers without it.
