Still, in 2016, fabric companies can not seem to print stripes or plaid along the straight of grain. If your heart is set on using this fabric, I would starch the heck out of it and draw your cutting line with the strip centered. Then I would stitch an 1/8" on the inside (stitch length 3 to 3.5) so when you cut, the fabric should lay flat. Good Luck!
