I made my bionic gear bag on my Singer 15-91. It will sew through anything! Seems like you might need to use a smaller needle, and not a universal needle, something with a sharp point.
I have never sewn on the Singer 237 or the Pfaff 130 so I cannot comment on them, but I do know my old Singers (15-91, 301, 201, 503) will plow through almost anything! No tired motors at all. I wouldn't get a Singer 101, though. It does seem to have a wimpy motor. At least mine did!
if you consider an industrial, check to see what needles they take before you purchase.
