I have a 12.5" square CG ruler and I find the black and white numbering on alternate sides confusing and non-intuitive; I think it just depends on how your brain is wired, as to which one works best for you.
I had the same reaction the first time i test-drove a CG ruler a friend owns. They are, indeed, very different to my beloved Olfa Frosteds. But they offer some very convenient sizes and specialty rulers Olfa doesn't. The CGs are also not slippery. My Olfas are old enough now that they are slick underneath. So I am building a collection of CGs, too.

It does take some careful thought when switching back and forth between the two brands. I now tend to reach for a CG first, but I am not yet ready to part with my "frosties."
