I use the method in the first video, but after cutting the two ends three inches ( width of binding strip) I trim one end by an extra 1/16 or so before sewing ends together. Since all of my binding is on the bias, this helps me not have too much stretch in the finished binding. Lays nice and smooth and no one can see my join.
