I always back my table runners with a nice fabric. I might make a pieced Christmas table runner and put a Fall fabric on the back so it can be reversible. I try to coordinate the fabrics so I can have a binding which works well with both. It works great and I always flip them around and get 2 table runners out of one. As for wall hangings, I will either use muslin or some fabric I'm not crazy about because no one sees the back anyway. Good luck!
