BQ4 and BQ5 are also good patterns to use. BQ4 uses rectangles and squares. I did a quilt for our local Dog Beach fundraiser (Halloween Howl) using BQ4. The dog fabric I used was directional and I used it in the rectangles also I had to be careful about having all the blocks facing the same way. The square was a red w/white polka dots. I pulled that color from the dog print - collars and ribbons on dogs. BQ5 uses a 9-1/2" square and the border around the block creates a star. I believe that BQ1 also had the option of making an 18" block.
