The Janome embroidery-compatible machine at the 82/8900 level is the 15000. The smaller embroidery-capable machine is the 9900. There's also a newer 14000 embroidery-capable machine.
The 8900 might have more
decorative stitches (270 total stitches vs. 120) and monogram/lettering options, but I don't think that's what most folks think of when talking embroidery. The latter usually means having hoops and being able to stitch out designs larger than the machine's native stitch width :-)
