I use the tutorial that cashs_mom mentioned. Perfect binding joins every time. I've never heard of doing it by hand stitching, but I went through lots of methods before finding that video.
I've only just discovered that tutorial. I think someone here posted it. I've used it a few times and I had perfect joins every time. I just love that method!
