This is a wonderful tute! But why not iron in that triangle in step 5 before you start. Then you start sewing 6 to 8 inches from the tip of the triangle. After you've sewn to within 6 to 8 inches of that tip, the end will be cut at the base of the triangle. No remembering or measuring. The triangle does the measuring for you. No matter how wide the binding is, that triangle shows the correct width.
