My favorite authors are Louise Penny, Jacqueline Winspear, Elly Griffiths, Charles Todd, and a few other writers of mysteries. Most write series, so you may want to begin with their first in a series. I also enjoy Jennifer Chiaverini's historical novels (some quilting included), and she has a new one called "The Enchantress of Numbers."
