You might check out Fed Ex or UPS and see how much they would charge to pack the machine.
If it was my mother's machine, I would want to make sure it was packed correctly and wouldn't trust someone who has no interest in the sentimental value. Unfortunately, too many employees just do not care and are only there to take home a paycheck. Just my $.02
