Libster, I know the right apartment is just waiting for you, in the right time. Could be a good thing. More time to sell or give away what you can't take with you.
My friend who is 90 just moved into assisted living. She had a huge 4 bedroom house to downsize! She did take all of her sewing machines and a good stash of fabric, and set up the one bedroom she has as a sewing studio. She sleeps on a daybed in her living room. She can keep making charity quilts and is happy as a lark.
