Beverly...that turned out so cute...love the basket of apples. So fun.... I assume your applique is raw-edge and satin stitched on. I do turned edge so I don't, typically, have a pucker issue. Since Joy is a pieced applique, you may have had puckers because she wasn't flat to begin with. If so, maybe just starch applique piece to achieve a flatter piece...and you can try basting with a bit of glue near (but not on) edges to give more flat edge before you do satin stitch. Using a light weight stabilizer may help and using a smaller size needle also. One last suggestion would be to loosen the pressure on your presser foot. It may be too tight against the fabric when you lower it. You just need to play and use different techniques until you find one that works for you. Maybe someone who does raw edge can offer more suggestions. Otherwise....welcome to the world of applique...the happiest place on earth..at least for me. Lol.
