rjwilder, I agree with you completely. What a number of you are assuming is not correct. 3 fat quarters might equal 3/4 yard of fabric in square inches, but 3/4 yd. will not yield 3 fat quarters. You will get 2 fat 1/4s and one linear quarter (9") from 3/4 of a yard. If you need to cut pieces of a certain size, a strip 9" x wof might not be enough. To get an uneven number of fat 1/4s, you must buy full yards, and you will have a fat 1/4 left over. I hope this makes sense and helps you.
