I'm glad I found this board - NO Rowentas for me! Too scary.

I have my grandmother's old Black and Decker Easy Iron from the 80's that's still going strong. It's my backup iron. The one I use the most is an el cheapo that doesn't have an auto shutoff function (HATE auto-shutoff!! By the time I get back to the iron it's turned itself off and is cooled down. Then I have to turn it back on and wait. Grrr)

I have rheumatoid arthritis with the coinciding brain fog. I velcroed a power strip with a breaker onto my ironing board and plugged in a clamping overhead light and my iron. If the light is on so is the iron. This way it's easier for me to remember to make sure the iron gets turned off.
