I just stick a pin in each intersection, and they mostly line up. If there is any fullness between blocks, I put that side down to let the feeddogs adjust it for me. I always press the seams open.
A trick that I have just started using is, after pressing a seam, I put a square ruler on top of the block until it cools. That makes all of the pieces really flat and accurate.
This is where a clapper would come in handy in place of a square ruler. That quilt is beautiful & thanks for the tutorial.
