Hi everyone!
I am just getting started on my quilting journey and have begun a quilt-as-you-go twin-sized quilt for my 83-year-old mother. I also started a BOM (Banyan Batiks Illusions Sampler quilt). So far, I have ruler-quilted 20 out of the 30 blocks I need for my mom's quilt - the rest I want to do free motion, as the designs I have in mind I cannot do just with rulers.
So you could say I have jumped into the deep end and am definitely tackling multiple learning curves at once!
To make things even more interesting, I am doing all of this on a vintage Singer 500E (Rocketeer). So far, so good (I just remove the feed dogs when quilting, and replace them when piecing :-)
When not quilting, I am still teaching at an online high school ( a few years to go to retirement) and am enjoying having my two college-aged children still living with me while they commute to school. I look forward to reading all your shared wisdom!
