I'm sorry - you and everyone else must have thought I was ignoring you but I didn't realise I'd had any answers yet - and such good suggestions. These all look possible and I already have something similar to the first and third ones somewhere. I'll have to dig them up and try them because if they're "deep" enough for the pin I can't see why they wouldn't work just fine.
